Objective 4:
Use methods of inquiry to make data-driven decisions that inform practice in the discipline.
To fulfill this objective, I developed a literature review to understand how informal learning takes place in remote/hybrid workplaces, where self-regulated learning skills could help early-career workers reach performance goals.
At my remote workplace, staff often express a desire for more and better training, but many skills and competencies are still learned informally, through experience and feedback. I saw a need to expand our understanding of how self-regulated learning skills can help remote workers make plans and track progress towards achieving mastery goals.
This artifact fully meets Objective 4, as it extensively uses methods of scientific inquiry to provide research-based data as the primary driver behind training decisions that will inform changes in a real workplace.
It also meets Objective 5, as these are positive changes that will address a departmental gap in knowledge around informal learning skills. Additionally, I name workplace culture changes that meaningfully support psychological safety in remote workplaces, which is a foundational need for effective training that results in measurable behavior change.
